Ethical Business

At The Duke of Cambridge, we believe passionately that running a good business is impossible without ensuring that high ethical standards are practised at every level of the company’s day-to-day running. We think that businesses should act responsibly with a moral code of conduct – driven by strong values and a sense of contribution towards society, not just focused on money, growth and greed.

Sloeberry Trading

Geetie Singh formed the company in 1997, in order to open The Duke of Cambridge. Sloeberry Trading is committed to ethical work practices and organic policies and has been highly acclaimed by the media and politicians, as well as winning many awards for its groundbreaking concepts and work practices.

The company believes that it is possible to run a successful business that has a positive impact on society. Its philosophy has its roots in the following values:

  • treating staff and producers fairly
  • respecting the environment
  • operating a democratic style of management
  • championing a sustainable way of life
  • doing business with small, independent producers – not multinationals
  • forging strong links with the local community

One thing that makes the company stand apart from others is the emphasis that Geetie places on staff training in-house. She teaches her staff to understand all aspects of organics and sustainable business, and gives them a solid grounding in sustainable food and seasonal eating. Geetie also ensures that they are trained to recycle all restaurant waste.
